About Me

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I provide psychotherapy to individuals, families, and couples. In addition to the more common mental health issues, my work for professionals includes managing chronic stress, moving from crisis mode to relaxation mode, balancing lifestyle shifts from the workplace to home and recognition of how skills required on-the-job are often different from those that enhance relationships at home.

For the past 16 years, I have led workshops for clergy and business professionals in Leadership Development using a systems perspective. As an off-shoot of these workshops, I coach individuals to enhance personal leadership in their families and workplace. I conduct individually tailored seminars for organizations and am an accomplished speaker on mental health issues in the Northern Virginia area. (See www.leadershipinministry.org)

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Masters in Social Work (MSW) in 1994 and became licensed in 1996. Prior to establishing my private practice in Vienna, Virginia, I had a ten year career as a corporate executive in banking. In earlier years, I was an elementary school teacher and mother of three children who now have families of their own. My first exposure to Family Systems Theory was through personal coaching with Dr. Edwin Friedman, author of Generation to Generation, from 1989 to 1991.

After receiving my Masters Degree, I continued to study with Friedman until his death in 1996. I conduct many workshops and seminars for churches, businesses and other organizations throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area.

As an approved coach for Booz Allen Hamilton, I have coached several executives for that company as well as other businesses. Currently, I am on the faculty for the Leadership in Ministry Workshops that primarily educate clergy from all over the United States in Family Systems Theory. My latest endeavor has been co-authoring the book, A Family Genogram Workbook. As an adjunct to my work, I am a level II EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) clinician.
